Year 8 End of Year Examinations

I am writing to inform you that your daughter will be completing her End of Year 8 Examinations from Tuesday 28th April to Friday 1st May inclusive.

In accordance with guidance from exam boards, before entering the exam venue, your daughter must adhere to the following exam conditions:

  • Students must not be wearing any type of watch.
  • Students must have no writing of any form on any parts of her body.
  • Students must remove any labels from their water bottles so they are transparent.
  • Students must ensure their mobile phone is switched off and in lockers or handed into Reception, upon arrival to school.
  • Students must not have airpods or any other electronic device on their person.
  • Students must leave their calculator case in their bag.
  • School bags will be held at the front of the classroom.
  • Students must attend in full uniform, including the correct school bag, shoes and socks. Students must be properly dressed in full uniform, ready for learning prior to the start of the exam.

Toilet breaks will not be permitted, unless a student has a toilet card. If there is an emergency, the time of the toilet break will be internally recorded as now required by the exam boards.

Please ensure your daughter has all the correct equipment required for each examination as no equipment will be shared. Once an examination is complete and papers have been collected, your daughter will do quiet independent study for the next examination. She will be required to bring revision material into the exam venue ready to do once given the instructions to do so.

On the reverse side of this letter is the schedule of the exams. Your daughter must make a note of exactly which examinations she has on what days. Exams will be taking place in RE and History classrooms, your daughter will be informed of her venue next week and this will remain the same for each of her exams.

Staff have shared Personalised Learning Checklist (PLCs) and specific guidance on exactly what will be assessed in each examination.  Feedback from these examinations will be given to students once marking and moderation has been completed, so students are aware and can work on any knowledge and or skills gaps over the summer before starting Year 9 .  Should performance be low, there is the possibility your daughter will need to re-sit assessments so gaps in learning are addressed.

I wish to thank you in advance for your support in our continued partnership in your daughter’s education.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Donohue

Assistant Headteacher for Assessment, Recording & Reporting
