The Oscar Romero Award is granted to schools that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to social justice, peace, and the "preferential option for the poor," inspired by the life of Saint Oscar Romero.
The Developer Level: Unlike the initial 'Participator' level, the Developer Level signifies that a school has moved beyond charitable acts to fully integrating CST principles into its curriculum, policies, and everyday life.
By achieving this award, St Philomena’s joins a select group of schools in the Southwark Diocese recognised for fostering a culture of empathy and compassion.
The award highlights the school's dedication to:
- Empowering Students: Encouraging young people to speak for the voiceless and challenge inequality.
- Faith in Action: Engaging in practical initiatives and outreach projects that make a tangible impact on the local and global community.
- Global Solidarity: Partnering with organisations like CAFOD to raise awareness of international needs.
This recognition serves as a testament to the hard work of the entire school community, staff, students, and parents in building a school rooted in faith, hope, and active love.
