Academic Support for Students in Year 11

Walking Talking Mocks January – February 2020

A Walking Talking Mock gives students the opportunity to be “walked” through an exam paper. Students have an opportunity to answer questions and then immediately have a model answer provided. This enables them to immediately understand what they need to do to maximise their marks in the examination.  Each session will begin at 8:45am and will finish at 11:30 am.

These sessions have proved invaluable in helping students prepare for their GCSE exams and are an integral part of the school’s exam preparation programme.  It is expected that all Year 11 students will attend.

Study Support Sessions

There are a number of Study Support sessions run by a variety of departments to support students who are not yet making the necessary progress.  These are designed to support specific students who must attend; however other students can request to join these sessions.

Drop in sessions

During these specified times, teachers have committed to be available to support any student who may need help with their studies.

GCSE Pod

GCSE pod provides a wealth of revision materials across a whole range of subjects. This includes video clips  and questions designed specifically around the exam board specification. All students have a login code to the GCSE POD

Mathswatch

This website   is used throughout the maths Department to enable students to review  learning of specific topics through videos and online questioning. It complements the Maths Scheme of Learning and is also used to set Maths homework. Students who have used Mathsmatch regularly have achieved a significant improvement in their maths  exam scores
