Weekly Prayers

Theme for the week 'Destroying Negative Attitudes' Week Commencing Monday 16th July 2018

The readings at Mass on the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time teach us that God has a special place for each of us, but to experience his love, we must repent and change. We must live by the values of the Gospel of Christ, who came as God in the flesh. Christ came to save us, so that we are no longer slaves to sin, but people of the Good News. We have become children of a holy and mighty God.
As children of a holy God, we are called to holiness. St Paul's letter to the Ephesians teaches us that in Christ Jesus, we have been chosen and blessed before the foundations of the world with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, to love God and each other and to live holy and spotless lives in his presence. Ephesians 1:3-14
We who were once far away from God have been brought close, by God’s grace through Christ’s death and resurrection: For this we must be grateful.
So wherever we are, at school, at home or on holiday, we must remember we are chosen and blessed and our loving God is with us always to guide, to protect and to keep us safe.
Let us pray:
God our Father, you showed us the light of your truth by sending Christ, your Son, to show us the way to your kingdom. Give us the grace to reject sin and live by your commandment; to love you with all our heart, mind and strength, and to love each other. Help us to be thankful for the blessings we receive each day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
