Excellent GCSE Results for Year 11 Students at St Philomena’s Catholic High School for Girls

The Year 11 class of 2019 celebrated excellent GCSE results. Of special note, 98% of students achieved grade 9-4 in at least one of the English GCSE exams. All subjects achieved very good results, with Biology, Chemistry, Food, History, Drama, Physics and RE being especially noteworthy with over 50% achieving top grades 9-7. Also of note are our BTEC subjects where 70% of grades were Distinction* or Distinction. I am delighted with the continued improvement the school has been able to achieve in challenging circumstances with tighter budgets, harder teacher recruitment and retention and the more demanding new style GCSE and BTEC qualifications.

The results are testimony to the culture of high expectation, excellent teaching and sheer hard work.
