Hot Weather Arrangements

This week’s weather is forecast to be hot in London and the South East, the Met Office has not yet issued any Heat Alert but temperatures are expected to exceed 30 C in this area.

The school has a Heatwave Plan which can be found on the school website by clicking here

Please note the following arrangements are in place during school for this period.

School Uniform

School Uniform should still be worn to school by students.

Students do not need to wear a school jumper

Students can remove their school blazer

Students must bring their school blazer to school and can put it in their locker should they wish to do so.

Short socks may be worn.

A cap/hat may be worn to and from school and during break times, the hat should be in school colours navy, cream or brown, and should not have a logo on it.

Water

It is extremely important for your daughter to keep well hydrated in hot weather and students should bring at least one bottle of water to school with them. Your daughter can re-fill bottles in the Dining Room at any time. Cold drinks are also available to purchase in the Dining Hall. It is important to drink more cold drinks than normal in hot weather.

Sunscreen

Your daughter should bring her own sunscreen into school with them and re-apply when necessary. The school does not provide sunscreen as your daughter may be allergic.

Arrangements for Break and Lunch

In extreme high temperatures (over 30oC) your daughter will not be permitted to stay outside during morning and lunch breaks. She will be supervised in the Margaret Clitherow Dining Rooms, the Gym and the Keller Training Centre.

In temperatures below this, students can use the Front Lawn area as usual but can only sit in shaded areas.

Vigorous physical activity

In extreme high temperatures (over 30oC) PE lessons will take place indoors and vigorous physical activity will not be part of the lesson.
