The internet is such an integral part of children's lives these days. It opens up so many educational and social opportunities, giving them access to, quite literally, a world of information and experiences. As ever it is vitally important that they are able to do so safely.
Attached below is the latest information from CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) regarding new trends and technologies along with documents providing specific advice for users of Facebook and a website called Formspring.
We would strongly recommend you take a look at the following website (http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/) and sign up to the monthly e-mails (www.thinkuknow.co.uk/Parents/Register/) for updates on the latest information on Internet safety and keeping your children safe.
Students in all years will be following a spiral curriculum for eSafety involving events, presentations and lessons every half term with the aim of increasing awareness of the dangers online and preventative measures. The school are also delighted to be able to announce that we will be launching the CyberMentors programme in September which is all about young people helping and supporting each other online. Thirty of our students in Years 8 to 10 will attend a two day training programme run by the national organisation before helping to lead our spiral curriculum through a new Student Leadership group. See www.cybermentors.org.uk for more details.
