Progress 8 2017

Students are measured on how much progress they make from the start of Year 7 until the completion of their exams at the end of Year 11. Progress 8 looks at each student’s progress in 8 subjects and compares this to the average progress made by all other Year 11 students nationally.

St Philomena’s has been commended for being in the Top 12% of Schools in England

It gives us great delight to share with you the performance of St Philomena's Catholic High School in the recent summer examinations. This is a public performance measure that informs how well students at St Philomena's have progressed from the end of primary school (Key Stage 2) to the end of Year 11 (Key Stage 4) compared to students in other schools. This is based on results in up to eight qualifications, which include English, Maths, three qualifications including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and three other additional approved qualifications. As you can interpret from the table, students at St Philomena’s progressed exceptionally well placing the school in the top 12% of schools in England. This is a wonderful achievement and testament to the hard work achieved by students, parents and staff. We are particularly proud of this achievement as this was based on the new, more challenging GCSE in Maths and English.
