Equity Diversity and Inclusion

edi

The school has a long tradition of outreach and care for the most vulnerable and marginalised in our society. Since the arrival of the Daughters of the Cross at St Philomena’s in 1893 their mission focused sharply on those in most need and this mission remains today. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work in the school, known as ‘Imago Dei’ which means ‘Made in the Image of God’, and aims to ensure that each member of the community is afforded the dignity and respect they deserve regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation or disability. As we move into Year 2 of our targeted work, the following areas have been identified as particularly pertinent to our school setting: Racial Solidarity, Human Love and Disability. These areas will be developed and led by staff and student Steering Committees.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Funded Graduate Schemes

PWC are urging school leaders and careers advisors to highlight a Funded Degree scheme to their Black students, noting the underrepresentation of this ethnic group in these environments nationally and the racial inequality and inequity that results. Deciding to attend university and choosing what course to follow is one of the most important educational/career decisions your students will make. The PwC programme provides students with the opportunity to gain a top-tier university placement, interspersed with practical, paid experience in a world-class corporate environment. As well as gaining a funded degree, there is also the possibility of securing a graduate job on completion. To take advantage of this opportunity or find out more information, please visit PwC's website: Flying Start Degree Programme
